About Ninshibar!
Ninshibar raised her voice to return
the goddess Inanna from
the Great Below to the Great Above.
Ninshibar! serves the return
of the divine feminine today.
The name Ninshibar comes from the Sumerian myth of Inanna.
Written on clay cuneiform tablets over 5,000 years ago, the myth of Inanna
is the oldest written story still in existence. Ninshibar was the handmaid
or vizier to Inanna, Queen of Heaven & Earth and the major Sumerian Goddess.
Ninshibar gave up her own place in the pantheon to serve Inanna. When Inanna
chose to go into the underworld, Ninshibar raised her voice to return the
Goddess to the world of the living. Ninshibar also helped to protect the "barge
of heaven" while the gifts of civilization were being transported to the people
of Sumer.
Ninshibar! artworks are imbued with this intention of service
to the divine feminine through the creation of beautiful, sensuous silks.
